I Will Not Forget   4 comments

The rain had finally ended and the sun was shining.  The woodland behind the house was a dozen shades of green and the trees were still dripping as I crossed the bridge.  I had spent so much time here with Jesus that stepping onto the path brought a tangible sense of His Presence. I expected Him to meet me here.

Soon the awareness of Him was so strong that I could smell His fragrance.  When I rounded the bend in the path, there He was, sitting on that same magnificent white stallion that I’d ridden with Him before.  His dark hair was slightly tousled by the breeze but it still radiated as always with what looked like living sparkling lights from within. I have come to understand this as the oil of anointing.

He was dressed all in white, from the shirt left casually open at the neck, to the white pants tucked into the softest, white leather boots which folded down into high cuffs just below the knee.  Under His left arm was a small, white leather pouch or satchel that hung from a long strap going across His chest, over His right shoulder and down across His back.  I wondered what that might be.  The spicy sandalwood scent of His own fragrance mingled with the smells of leather and of the horse and the damp earth.

He seemed so completely at home and comfortable in the midst of the natural realm He had created.  He sat for a long moment just gazing on me with so much love.  Then He casually jumped down from the horse and came to meet me.  Time stood still once again as we walked together there in the green woods of this earthly realm.

Several months later, on Remembrance Day, I was reading my old journals and pondering this experience again. When I came to the description of His clothes and the leather satchel or pouch, He stopped me.  It had been an item I didn’t understand but I hadn’t questioned it at the time. Now He said,

“Shall I tell you what that is?”

“Yes Lord,” I replied.

His voice became very serious as He continued softly.

“That bag is filled with My promises to you.”

His words shocked me and cut deeply into my heart.  I had received so many prophetic words and promises over the years which were still unfulfilled, that by now I had a bad case of hope deferred. (Prov.13:12)   This was so deeply entrenched that when another word came, I could only remember all of those still pending and I began to say,
“Oh, just put it in the bag with all the others.”

There was no condemnation in His eyes as they searched my own. There was only deep, wounded love. Slowly now He continued.

“Every prophecy and every promise I have made to you, past, present and future, is in that bag and I will fulfill every word I have spoken. They are so precious to Me that I keep them there under my arm, close to My heart. I will not forget.”

[ In the next post we will return to the subject of prophetic intercession. But I felt the Lord nudging me to share this now since tomorrow, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day.]

What Really Happens When We Are Angry At God   5 comments

Many years ago I was going through a very dark time in my life and not dealing with it very well.  I was only in the beginning stages of intimacy with the Lord and there were (and are) still many lessons to learn.  I was about to experience one of those lessons very forcefully.

In my search for answers to the impossible circumstances I was in I had finally blamed God for it.  Oh, of course it was an attack of the enemy but God could have stopped it and protected me.  What about all He promised me?  What about all I had sacrificed?  Where was He when I needed Him?

On and on I went, venting my anger at Him until suddenly He stopped me.  Everything was quiet for a brief second and then I could hear the hurt in His voice as He said to me, “It grieves My heart the way you publicly disgrace and dishonor Me!”

Shocked, I wondered what He could mean.  Publicly?  I thought I was alone in my room and no-one was home but me.  And what did He mean by disgrace and dishonor?

Answering my thoughts as always, He began to explain.  “Yes,” He answered quietly.  “You disgrace and dishonor me by casting doubt on my abilty to protect you.  You accuse Me of not even loving you when it was My love for you that sent Me to the cross.  I died for you.”

He paused for a moment to let His words sink into my heart.  There was still great pain in His voice as He continued.  “And yes, it is very public.  Are you still so unaware of the spirit world around you?  Everything you have said was heard by all of My angels and the great cloud of witnesses who have gone on before you.  The whole demonic host of the enemy is also listening.  Your words have disgraced and dishonored Me in front of them all.”  After another brief pause He continued simply, “I love you.  Please don’t do this again.”

Face to carpet, sobs and groanings of deep repentance.  Forgiveness granted.  Grace extended.  Relationship restored.  Lesson learned.

Heaven – The Cloud of Witnesses – part 4   2 comments

Recently I had another encounter with the Cloud of Witnesses. (Heb.11,12) This brought more understanding while (as always) bringing even more questions at the same time.  This is one of the Lord’s ways of nudging us along the path, gently luring us into the deeper things of God.  The more we discover of Him, the more we want to know.  The more we know Him, the more we love Him.

Jesus took my hand and immediately we were flying.  He carried me away to a place I’ve come to call ‘the great high mountain at the edge of eternity’. The wind of the Spirit is always moving in this place, blowing our hair and our garments.  It is a fresh wild wind filled with creative purpose and destiny.  At times one can look down from here and view eagles soaring. Gazing even further, far away below, there may be a glimpse of tiny forests and mountains and oceans.  At other times the view reveals another realm, quite unknown.  It seems to be a place where He can reveal whatever He chooses, whether past, present or future, in this realm or beyond.

This time there was a large crowd of people assembled that I immediately knew was the cloud of witnesses – my witnesses.  My Mother was there along with an old friend of hers that I remembered from decades ago.  I also saw Rev. and Mrs. Shumway, missionaries in Nigeria that the Lord brought back to the U.S. to pastor a small church in Oklahoma.  This was not even their home State but God brought them there to plant the seeds of Africa and missions in my little 6 year old heart.  Others watered and tended those seeds and they grew.

In this large crowd were some I recognized and some I did not, but all played a part in my life somehow.  There were writers whose works had mentored me and others whose prayers still affect me.  They were individually speaking to me but not with words.  This was spirit to spirit communication.  As I looked in their eyes I saw all they had endured and overcome in this life and I felt a great deal of shame at my laziness and discouragement.  I saw what my Mother had endured and overcome.  I always felt that one day in Heaven she would have a chest full of medals. But here, the medals and battle scars were internal and worn with grace and humility for all to see.

Looking at all of them now I had a very strong sense that they were depending on me!  The way I finish will add to their “perfection” there (that without us they would not be made perfect … Heb. 11:40).  I felt I had let all these people down and I was ashamed.

But they were not condescending.  They were encouraging me and also warning me.  “Get up, don’t stop, don’t be lazy… you must fight and win and overcome the things in your own life that need to be overcome.  Pick up the torch and finish what we began.”  Then each of them laid their hands on me to impart things to me.  As they filed past, Jesus was standing beside me with His hands on my head.  I was humbled and overwhelmed.

In an effort to understand this experience further, I found this in Rick Joyner’s book Torch and the Sword (p. 139).   Jesus led Rick into a great hall with a line of people on either side as they passed.  They were all dressed in various clothes from different eras.  The Lord said “These are the ones who helped to prepare you for your purpose.  You have received from their teachings or stories.  They are your witnesses.  You are representing them as you are Me, just as those you have a part in preparing will also represent you.  We are all one in the great purpose of the Father – the restoration of man and the earth to their purpose.  They are not complete without you.  Neither are you complete without them. This is also true of those who are to be called through you and the messengers in your time.”

And one more quote from Rick’s new book The Path, which I highly recommend. On page 60, Rick is being challenged by one from the cloud of witnesses who says to him, “I am but one of the ‘great company of witnesses’ who have been watching these times unfold and watching those of you who have been given the honor to live in them.  The righteous and prophets of old desired to see these days and they are now seeing them.  You live before an audience far greater than you can imagine.  If your eyes were open as they should be, you would see the great host of Heaven that is with you.  Right now you could not bear the gravity of these times, but you will grow in stature and vision until you can.”

May God strengthen us and give us wisdom to be the over-comers He has destined us to be in this age.

Heaven – Communication in that Realm   1 comment

What is communication like in Heavenly realms?  It is as though the veils are lifted from our minds and we are suddenly free to know, to see, to experience more than we ever thought possible.  The noise within us is finally stilled so that we can hear God’s voice … His thoughts.

Communication in Heaven is often by thought.  It is instant and much faster than by word.  Words are also used and there are many different languages that we knew on earth but everyone understands them all.  Each word is so alive with wisdom and knowledge that they are like doorways leading to another realm of understanding our mortal minds have never known.  “What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete – as complete as God’s knowledge of me.” 1 Cor. 13:12 GNB

In a vision, my husband once found himself in a library in Heaven.  As he passed the rows of lovely volumes, the knowledge they contained came flowing out of the covers to him!  He found it very difficult to keep walking to his destination because every time he looked at one of the books he not only knew what was in it, but it was downloading knowledge to him at a glance.  Such is the nature of wisdom and revelation in that realm.  It is given freely.  There is nothing there to  interfere with God’s original plan for man.

Everyone in Heaven knows all there is to know about everyone else, yet still they love with the Father’s love.  Those who have been forgiven much, love much. (Luke 7:47)  There is no hiding but only complete acceptance and freedom.

There is no need for a cell phone, the internet or any of the technology that we know and depend on now.  Some people’s idea of Heaven is that it might be a place similar to this earth but with greatly superior technology.  But Heaven is a supernatural realm which so far exceeds the highest form of technology that there is no comparison.  When knowledge is needed, it is immediately given.    Often you know the answer as soon as you ask the question.  There is no sin there to hinder the flow of the Holy Spirit.  Your spirit is fully open to Him.  This also implies that the less sin there is in us now, the more knowledge and wisdom can flow to us by the Spirit.

In one of my experiences in Heaven, Jesus and I were sitting on a bench in the lovely gardens.  On this day He began to address issues in my heart that needed to change, but still the love in His eyes did not diminish.  There was no hint of condemnation.  There was only such deep love that His whole focus was on me.

“How can We help you solve this problem?” He asked sincerely. “What would be helpful?”

Once again I was humbled to see that His purpose is always redemptive.  It is the enemy who condemns, never the Lord. (Rom.8:1)  God’s goal is always to restore us to the intimacy that He enjoyed with Adam and even to build on that foundation.

Returning my thoughts to the problem at hand, I realized I had failed the same test many times.  I began to wonder if it would be beneficial to ask for private angelic tutoring.  I seemed to have forgotten for the moment that in Heaven whatever one desires is instantly granted, because those desires are in agreement with the Father’s will.

Suddenly there was an angel on the bench beside me where the Lord had been. Immediately I realized that this beautiful creature had already been briefed on the situation, or was invisibly there all along.  Now she entered into the middle of the conversation which I had assumed was only between the Lord and myself.

“Well,” she mused, gesturing around her, “Here in Heaven there is nothing to distract or cause annoyance or frustration.”

There is a sense in which the angels who live in that glorious realm cannot fully understand what we endure on earth.  But they are also amazed many times at our lack of ability to appropriate what Christ has made available to us at so high a cost.  She was so pure and gentle that there was no possibility of being offended by her words.  Still, her parting statement pierced my heart and brought me to tears.

Looking into my eyes, she gazed deeply into my spirit as if searching for something.

“However,” she smiled thoughtfully, continuing her former conversation, “You do have your Father’s nature.  That should help!”

Created for Both Realms – Communication in the Spirit   Leave a comment

What is it like to be taken away in the Spirit, to walk in Heavenly realms?

It is as though the veils are lifted from our minds and we are suddenly free to know, to see, to experience more than we ever thought possible.  The noise around us and within us is finally stilled so that we can hear God’s voice … His thoughts.

Communication in Heaven is often by thought.  It is instant and much faster than by word.  Words are also used but each word is so alive with wisdom and knowledge that they are like doorways leading to another realm of understanding our mortal minds have never known.  “What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete – as complete as God’s knowledge of me.” 1 Cor. 13:12 GNB

Remember that we do not just hold these promises in the category of “Heaven” – a place where it all comes true when we die.  That truth alone is enough to make this life worth living.  However, the things we are speaking of are reality in Heaven now.  We are invited to go there – now.  We are seated with Him there – now. (Eph.2:6)  We are allowed access freely before God’s throne by the blood of Jesus – now. (Heb. 4:16)

What are we waiting for?

Oh God, please quiet our troubled hearts and minds.  Deliver us from fear and insecurity and all that comes between us and You.  And take us away with You!
