Under The Aquarium and The Ruby Slippers   1 comment

In a dream I seemed to be in a large aquarium, something like Sea World.  I was with a group of people in a spacious underground room where there were sofas and chairs scattered around.  The group of people was small compared to the room.

Instead of the usual large aquarium that was behind a glass wall at eye level, this one was just a couple of feet above our heads and we were looking up to see the fish.  There were many beautiful varieties of fish and other sea creatures but no predators.  My attention was drawn to a group of small sea turtles coming my direction.  They were about the size of dinner plates.  As they drew near I happened to see some of their feet poking through the water into the air around me!  Startled, I reached up and touched the water.  I had assumed I was underneath a glass ceiling but this was obviously not the case!  I poked my hand right up through the water and pulled it back again, laughing.  I wasn’t getting splashed or wet at all and no drops were falling on me but there was no barrier between me and the water world above.  It was staying where it belonged but it was obvious that I could have gone up into it at will.  The other people in the room seemed to understand this and were not frightened by it.  They merely smiled at my discovery.

Then one of the others handed me their baby to look after for awhile.  He was an adorable little thing and came to me gladly.  While I was carrying him around I noticed some seats at a higher level near the water above, so I took him up there.  He was delighted with the water and being able to see the fish up close just above him.  Laughing, he put his hands up into the water to play with them.  I found it interesting that he accepted the water above and the fish gladly with no fear, as if it was normal.

Now I heard a piano and recognized the voice of a favorite worship leader from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, USA.  Picking up the baby, I went to join the crowd that had now gathered around the piano in this room under the aquarium.

When I awoke from this strange dream, the Lord began to explain it to me.  It was a reminder once again of just how close His realm really is and how easily it can be accessed.  There was no barrier between this realm and the Heavenly realm.  The veil wasn’t just thin – it didn’t even exist!

There were only a few people who chose to be in this place.  To everyone else, what we were experiencing was considered impossible.  Taking care of the baby was a picture of leading the young ones higher, caring for them and introducing them to the Spirit realm.  These young ones accept it as quite normal.

The worship leader was meant to help us make the transition from our realm (in the lower room) up into the higher realm (in the water).  In this case, going from the natural realm here up into the Spirit realm.

Shortly after this dream, the Lord chose to underline it for me once again.  I was sitting in a large worship gathering when I noticed that one of the singers on the platform was wearing red sequin shoes that glittered under the lights.  I giggled and thought “Hmmm, Dorothy’s ruby slippers! (from the Wizard of Oz)  Now what would You like to say to me about that, Lord?”  And He quickly replied, “There’s no place like home!  And you know that your home is here in My realm with Me.”

The Mountain at the Edge of Eternity   7 comments

Out of the swirling water colors a white horse appeared and the smiling face of Jesus locked gazes with me.  When He reached for my hand and pulled me up onto the horse with Him, it was one fluid motion like color being swished onto a canvas.  We rode off into the heavens, landing gently on the Sea of Glass in the Throne Room.

There was a host of saints and angels there and immediately all the attention was on Him.  He dismounted, nodded His head gracefully to them with a slight bow and turned to help me down from the horse.  Then He took my hand and presented me to them.  Though I have been there many times, the beauty of Heaven and purity of those there is still a shock to the human system.  I felt like Cinderella at the ball with the Prince at my side.  He was affirming His relationship with me in front of them all.  It is easy to be overcome and terribly insecure in those moments except for all of Rick Joyner’s teaching experiences from Heavenly realms.  The Lord told him so many times that he was not to look at himself or compare himself to those who had been purified by the judgments, but to look at Him alone.

Jesus was regal and calm as always and seemed to be enjoying the moment.  Still, He saw that I was clinging to His hand.  Looking at me quietly, as if He was doing something just for me, He squeezed my hand and said,

“Come with Me. I want to show you something.”

Immediately we were on a high mountain, a familiar place I’ve come to call ‘the mountain at the edge of eternity’.   I love this place where anything can happen.  It’s full of possibility and destiny with that wild wind of the Spirit blowing our hair and garments.  Up on that mountain we started to walk in the green meadow and suddenly came upon a high hill.  I had never noticed it in the times I had been there before.

Jesus became serious and quietly said to me, “This is the hill of sacrifice.  Your sacrifice.  It’s all you have sacrificed for My sake and the Gospel over the years.”

I was stunned!  As soon as my vision cleared, for I was sobbing, I looked closer at the hill.  Now I could see it was made up of houses and land and gardens and things – many fine things that would go in a house, even beautiful cats! It was also made up of people … so many, many people.  There were friends and co-workers and people who we could network with to spread the Gospel.  There were also schools and training centers and churches, good churches full of good, faithful people who were mature in spirit and had single eyed devotion for Him alone.

As I gazed at this in awe, Jesus continued to speak to me.

“All the things you have sacrificed for Me have come up to Me and I have used them to build this memorial.  But more than just a memorial here in Heaven of your sacrifice, I have multiplied them a hundred fold and I have glorified each one of them and now I am bringing them back to you!  Some will stay here to be a blessing to you in your future life here.  But much of this will be coming back to you on earth now to bless you and help you fulfill your destiny there.”

I thought of all that I had sacrificed … houses and lands and things.  And of all the things that we could not do or be involved in because we were being called out of one place and into another.  All the years that I desperately clung to His promises and fought to stay free and not be tied down to anything, even things and places and people that I loved, to just try to stay in line for the ministry that I believed was coming, so that when the doors finally opened I’d be ready to go.  And I wept and remembered the joy when the doors finally opened.

Much of what I saw in that hill was people, a vast number of people.  I thought about the many times when the enemy stole opportunities from us to go and minister to groups of people.  Or times when we actually went but then things prevented people from coming or receiving what we had brought for them.  And there they all were in that hill.  There were not only the things I had sacrificed but also all that the enemy had stolen from me!  I thought about the scriptures that I had prayed so often:

And Jesus replied, “Let me assure you that no one has ever given up anything—homes, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or property—for love of me and to tell others the Good News, who won’t be given back, a hundred times over, homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land—with persecutions!   All these will be his here on earth, and in the world to come he shall have eternal life.”  Mark 10:29-30 Living Bible (TLB)

Have you grown weary from all the loss?  Take heart!  Nothing of value in your life is ever lost.  It goes on into eternity and is multiplied a hundred times to bless you and so many others.  Much of it will be showered back on you in this life and much more than you can imagine is waiting for you there in your Heavenly home with Him.

I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed to Him (to guard my deposit) against that day. 2 Tim. 1:12

Prophetic Intercession 6   2 comments

The hot wind coming from the Indian Ocean blew sand across the tent of meeting, stinging our faces.  But along with the clouds of sand, there were spiritual clouds of glory that day as worshippers from around the world exalted Jesus as King. As the Holy Spirit began to give prophetic insight into how to pray for several different countries, the presence of God became thick and people began to intercede for their nations.  In the midst of this, my husband looked toward the makeshift platform and saw Jesus standing high above the tent. His form stretched up into the sky and He was clothed in priestly garments.  The light coming from Him was so bright that little could be seen of His face.  Small orbs of light were spinning around Him, now touching, now lifting off of His glory.  As intercession was made, the orbs of light were sent speeding out to the earth to all the countries and people who were being prayed for.  Help and hope were on the way.

Don’t ever think that your situation is hopeless.  Don’t ever think that God does not hear or that He does not care.  Whether your problems are large or small, whether they concern just you or your whole nation, He hears every voice crying out to Him and sees every tear.  In fact, your tears are so precious to Him that He keeps them in a bottle of remembrance! (Psa.56:8)  Even your whisper for help resounds in His ears like a baby crying for its mother.  He will not forget you and He will not forsake you. (Heb.13:5)

Once in an encounter with the Lord when I was feeling distraught and hopeless, He opened His hand to me. There, tattooed on His palm, was my name!  I was shocked and undone.  But without a word He had assured me of His great love for me and the fact that He would never forget. ( Isa.49:15,16)

Never give up. Keep praying! (1 Thess.5:17, Isa.62:6,7, Ps. 55:17, Lev. 6:13)

I settled into my chair in our small group meeting and entered into the worship that was swirling around me.  It was like catching a ride on a passing train with all the others.  Gradually I became aware of a night sky and the feeling of flight.  In the Spirit now, I seemed to be on a plane, leaning my head against a cold window pane.  But suddenly I was aware of a cold wind as well.  Now I realized that I was flying – but I was outside the plane looking in!

This had a different feel somehow than other prophetic experiences.  There was more of a present reality sort of feeling, as though I was witnessing a particular place or set of circumstances here on earth.  This was not a high-level, out of body experience but rather a prophetic impression which I had to fight to hold onto and keep believing and moving with it.

The plane was a large jet and this flight was very full.  I saw the word United on the side and thought it might be a United Airlines fight.  But a second look told me it was United Arab Emirates and most of the people on board were Middle Eastern.

Being somewhat new to this particular type of prophetic experience, I was unsure where I was or why I was there. But I felt I was there to pray and sensed that the plane was in some sort of danger.  I prayed for safety and protection and that angels would be sent to help.  Then I looked into the plane and saw many beautiful Arab children with their olive skin, black hair and big brown eyes.  There were families on board with many children and babies and some pregnant women.  I began to pray for them, not only for their safety but that God would reveal Himself to them, seal their future destinies for His Kingdom and bring them out of darkness.  In the end I did sense a peace that the danger to the flight was past and everything would be alright.

When you make yourself available to the Lord for prophetic intercession, He can take you anywhere to pray for anyone.  (See the other postings under Intercession for some exciting testimonies.)  Though this was low on the scale of prophetic experiences, I mention it to show different ways He can speak to us.  Some are such slight impressions that we can easily miss them or mistake them for our own thoughts at first.  But if we keep pushing aside the distractions, focus on what we are seeing and keep asking for more … anything is possible with God.

Years ago in the 90s during the days of renewal, we were privileged to be near enough to Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship to be there often.  I spent so much time resting in the Spirit on that carpet I feel as though I have permanent rug burn on my heart.  It changed me forever and I am deeply grateful to the Lord.

I remember attending an intercessory prayer meeting there that absolutely blew me away.  They met in a theatre type room that seated about 100 people and it was overflowing.  After inviting the Holy Spirit, the leader laid out the plan for us and gave us time limits due to the size of the crowd.  We would spend 10 minutes in quiet listening prayer to see what was on God’s heart.  What did He have to say and what did He want us to pray about?  We were each to write down what He showed us.  Then the leader began to call for people to come forward individually to share what God had told them and pray into that.

By this time there was such a thick presence of God in the room that some people were sobbing and others were shaking so hard they could not even hold the microphone.  Often someone else had to read their notes for them since they had crumpled to the floor.  By the way, these were Catholics, Baptists, Charismatics – people from various denominations, cultures and nations learning how to be truly one in the Spirit.  It was stunning.

As the notes were read, in the beginning some of it seemed random and I wondered where it was all going.  But soon a pattern began to develop and it was obvious that the same Spirit was directing it all.  Something that seemed not to make any sense would be put on hold for the moment.  Then another person would share what he had received and it would fit perfectly with the first word and sometimes even bring more understanding.  One person shared a fairly vague sense of danger for people in Congo.  But later another person had seen a vision of a specific village bordering Congo with a refugee camp.  The people there had been traumatized.  They had little food and no clean drinking water.  Now we could pray more specifically.  On and on it went.  It seemed as if the Lord had opened a huge jigsaw puzzle and showered it down on us, giving everyone a piece.  If you only saw your piece it didn’t look like much or make any sense.  But when all the pieces were put together the things He led us to pray about fit together beautifully.  We only know things “in part”.  We need each other. (1 Cor. 13:9)

Imagine the possibilities of that kind of prayer.  Could this be the end of the boring prayer meeting?  You know, the kind where it’s all about me and my little group, none of the prayers make it past the city limits and everyone is trying hard to stay awake.  Even the angels are yawning at meetings like that because they don’t have much to do!  Psalm 103:20 says that they “excel in strength and do His commandments, harkening to (listening with the intent to obey) the voice of His word.”  While we do not command them or tell them what to do, they are also listening for the voice of His Word to come through our mouths!  When we pray according to His Word and His will, the angels are sent to ‘do His commandments’ and bring answers to those prayers.

Let’s pray the Word of God and make declarations in agreement with His Word.  Let’s ask Him how He feels about things and then pray His heart and His will into the matter.  His prayers get answered!

I Will Not Forget   3 comments

The rain had finally ended and the sun was shining.  The woodland behind the house was a dozen shades of green and the trees were still dripping as I crossed the bridge.  I had spent so much time here with Jesus that stepping onto the path brought a tangible sense of His Presence. I expected Him to meet me here.

Soon the awareness of Him was so strong that I could smell His fragrance.  When I rounded the bend in the path, there He was, sitting on that same magnificent white stallion that I’d ridden with Him before.  His dark hair was slightly tousled by the breeze but it still radiated as always with what looked like living sparkling lights from within. I have come to understand this as the oil of anointing.

He was dressed all in white, from the shirt left casually open at the neck, to the white pants tucked into the softest, white leather boots which folded down into high cuffs just below the knee.  Under His left arm was a small, white leather pouch or satchel that hung from a long strap going across His chest, over His right shoulder and down across His back.  I wondered what that might be.  The spicy sandalwood scent of His own fragrance mingled with the smells of leather and of the horse and the damp earth.

He seemed so completely at home and comfortable in the midst of the natural realm He had created.  He sat for a long moment just gazing on me with so much love.  Then He casually jumped down from the horse and came to meet me.  Time stood still once again as we walked together there in the green woods of this earthly realm.

Several months later, on Remembrance Day, I was reading my old journals and pondering this experience again. When I came to the description of His clothes and the leather satchel or pouch, He stopped me.  It had been an item I didn’t understand but I hadn’t questioned it at the time. Now He said,

“Shall I tell you what that is?”

“Yes Lord,” I replied.

His voice became very serious as He continued softly.

“That bag is filled with My promises to you.”

His words shocked me and cut deeply into my heart.  I had received so many prophetic words and promises over the years which were still unfulfilled, that by now I had a bad case of hope deferred. (Prov.13:12)   This was so deeply entrenched that when another word came, I could only remember all of those still pending and I began to say,
“Oh, just put it in the bag with all the others.”

There was no condemnation in His eyes as they searched my own. There was only deep, wounded love. Slowly now He continued.

“Every prophecy and every promise I have made to you, past, present and future, is in that bag and I will fulfill every word I have spoken. They are so precious to Me that I keep them there under my arm, close to My heart. I will not forget.”

[ In the next post we will return to the subject of prophetic intercession. But I felt the Lord nudging me to share this now since tomorrow, Nov. 11 is Remembrance Day.]

Prophetic Intercession 3   5 comments

Intercession, by it’s very nature, is not about us.  If I am crying out to God regarding problems in my own life, that’s a valid form of prayer but it’s not intercession.  If I am crying out to God regarding problems in someone else’s life or situations that I am not even affected by, that’s intercession.  It’s always on behalf of others, not about me.

But prophetic intercession is still another category which is more strategic and powerful.  It involves asking the Lord to direct your thoughts and lead you into praying what’s on His heart.  He will give you information you do not have or show you pictures or visions of people and places you have no knowledge of.   It can be anything … anywhere!  And when He shows you, He can also take you there in the Spirit in prayer.  When you arrive, there will often be angelic help, seen or unseen, to assist you in bringing His answer to the people and situations there.

Always remember this.  In the Spirit you can fly!  You will never see an eagle sneaking around in a forest trying to catch his prey that can easily outrun him.  You will never see him surrounded by wolves.  That’s ridiculous.  He doesn’t go there or operate from that level.  He operates from a higher realm where he can see with great accuracy.  He can fly.  So can you.  (Isa.40:31)

There are many stories of prophetic intercession and people being transported in the Spirit for that purpose.  Another one of my favorites comes from John Paul Jackson who is a well known prophetic voice in the USA. (www.streamsministries.com)  He tells of travelling and preaching in Europe several years ago when he became very ill.  He was so ill that he had to cancel some of the meetings and eventually ended up in hospital.  He had been crying out to God for healing so that he could continue ministering.  He was growing weary in his faith when suddenly at the side of his bed a little old man appeared.  The man was small in stature and had dark weathered skin.  He said nothing but simply laid his hands on John Paul’s chest and began to pray.  John Paul said that fire seemed to shoot through his body and he was instantly healed.  In that same instant the man disappeared before his eyes.

Knowing that angels can change their appearance and take on different forms, John Paul began to thank the Lord for sending His angel to bring healing to him.

At this, the Lord spoke to him and said “No, that wasn’t My angel.”

Shocked, John Paul cautiously asked “Well then … what was it?”

In answer to the question, the Lord took him into a vision where he clearly saw this same little old man in his small hut in a Mexican village.  The man was on his knees in prayer asking God to use him.

“Oh God,” he prayed, “I’m very old now and I live in such a small village. I want to work for You but I have no opportunity.  Please won’t You use me somehow to help someone?”

Apparently the Lord took him at his word.  He was transported in prayer all the way to Europe to lay hands on one of God’s servants who needed healing, then taken back home again.  Consider the possibilities!  But this is not about a free travel package.  We don’t get to choose the place or the circumstances.  It comes out of a desire to know God in a deeper way and work to build His Kingdom.   And it must ONLY be done through the Holy Spirit by those who know the Lord personally.  There are other spirits that would counterfit and deceive and eventually destroy people.   Jesus said “He who does not enter by the door of the sheepfold , but climbs up some other way is a thief and a robber  …  I am the door.” (John 10:1-10).

For those who are His, seated with Him in Heavenly places, there are truly no limits in prayer! (Eph.2:6)

The Dance   3 comments

The large hall was set and ready for the meeting to begin.  The musicians were tuning their instruments.  People were arriving and greeting each other before taking their seats and there was already a sense of His presence and an air of expectancy.

Suddenly Jesus appeared in front of me, smiling broadly.  Manifested in this form as the Man, Christ Jesus, He always takes my breath away.  Opening His arms to me, He invited me to dance. My weak knees led me to Him as I accepted His invitation.  Being in His arms is to be surrounded by a cloud of His fragrance, a cloud of His protection, a cloud of His love.

Music came from somewhere as He whisked me out into the open area.  Then all else disappeared – the people, the instruments, the chairs and even the carpet which had covered the wood floor we were now dancing on.  In the light of His presence, gazing into His wonderful eyes I see nothing else but Him.  I want nothing else but Him.  To be held in His embrace, learning how to move as one with Him is my only desire.

For a long time we followed the music around the room and I revelled in the sweetness of His presence.  But then without warning Jesus also disappeared, at least from my natural vision.  Startled, I realized that nothing else had changed.  The music continued in the empty room and I could still feel His strong arms guiding me in the dance and the warmth of His hand holding mine.

There was, however, one thing that changed.  In the moment He disappeared from my sight His presence magnified greatly, causing what had been a blissful, sweet experience to now become so intense it was overpowering.  I rested my head on His shoulder and wept.  Now I was no longer moving on my own for He was carrying me.

So often when I am wrapped in His embrace, I find that words are unnecessary.  There is a language that communicates on a much deeper level, Spirit to spirit.  Now He was teaching me that sight is sometimes as unnecessary as words.  The reality of the Spirit realm goes as far beyond physical sight as it goes beyond earthly physical language.

Here, for these moments suspended in time, in this new realm of the Spirit where I had entered with Him, spiritual sight had overcome the natural.

II Cor. 4:18 Amp. – “We consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen: for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting) but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.”
